One participant uses her laptop during the 2007 high school cyber defense competition All machines, including personal computers, could be under attack during the event.

While the competition is serious, there is plenty of time for making friends and having fun.

Content Areas for 2008/2009

Three information technology content areas are available for the 2008/2009 academic year:

• cyber security / cyber defense,
• robotics,
• game design.

No previous knowledge of IT in any of the content areas is assumed for the IT-Clubs. Instructional materials are provided in all content areas for students starting with the most basic information and moving into more complex concepts and problems.

Additionally, we are working with the Technology Association of Iowa to match each IT-Club with an IT professional in their local area to help guide the students' exploration with hardware and software, as well as just be available for questions and discussions about IT.
